July 21
It was cool when I started my early morning walk today, so I wore a jacket, but by about mile 1 I was plenty warm so took it off. Doing the 4 minutes walking & 45 seconds running worked out well. I pushed it as best as I could & did the 5 miles in 1 hour and 17 minutes (15.4 min/mile). It rained lightly the last 2 miles, but felt good. Came home, had breakfast, took a shower, and then off to work for the day.

Wow, nice time! I think at my most fit in high school, running as much as I could, and only having to do a single mile, I made it in 12 minutes. If I did 5, my average would have been closer to 20 minutes/mile. You rock!!! Other than the workout pain, how do you feel? It's got to be invigorating!
ReplyDeleteShanna...I do feel good overall. I find that my knees have really gained strength and just every day walking, going up flights of stairs, etc, have gotten so much easier. My cardiovascular is much improved, too. Interestingly enough, it's not so much my knees or hips or feet that bother me after a long walk/run...but rather my leg quads are what are the most sore...but the ice baths help. But overall...I have a lot more bounce in my step now!
